You're a butterfly
And butterflies are free to fly
Fly away, high away, bye bye
’Someone Saved My Life Tonight’ - Elton John
Take some time to smell the flowers
So take these broken wings
And learn to fly again, learn to live so free
’Broken Wings’ – Mr. Mister
The day I decided to hike around Paradise Meadows up at Mt Washington and there was 3 feet of snow. Did I mention it was July!
Oh to be free to fly!
The wind in your face
Honest it was July
My Mom posted a cool raindrop photo the other day, here is mine.
While somewhat out of focus I still like how you can see the water drops
I feel the pull of the ocean
As if siren song fills my body
The song luring me to its shores
Upon the ocean shores
One feels at peace with the song of the surf
Rolling in and out
Gently or with a mighty roar
With the tide comes treasure
Left behind, yours to discover
Some treasures meant to cherish
Others not so much
Treasure none the less
Any day by the ocean is a good day
Almost every job I have had I started in a position which was described to me as the low man on the totem. When I was younger I thought this was a bad position but as I grew older I learned it was the best position to be in.
I have learned that the ‘low man’ on the totem is actually the strongest position of the totem as it is the one who carries everyone else upon their shoulders. I have felt that feeling more times than I care to count.
This is the ‘low man’ on my favourite totem.
I find great strength here.
The mighty Thunderbird rides high
Cedar Man
The largest totem in diameter anywhere
Noble and proud
Remember the low man on the totem has the greatest responsibility.
Take pride in what you do even if you are the low man. Remember you are important without you everything is off balance.
I feel blessed to live near these totems so I can look to them when I feel off with the universe.
It was so quiet today as today was the day the chickadees left. Every year with the exception of one the chickadees disappear. Not sure why one stays behind but one always does. It’s as if one has to stay behind and keep the home fire burning while the others go wherever they go .
It’s a bit of a sad day as we look so forward each day to hearing them all chirp away and watch them grab seeds and eat or hide them. We have had their feeder in various places but they really like the current one as they have become so bold they tap on the window sill when the feeder is empty.
Here’s a shot at the current feeder where they had to navigate a giant icicle when we had the cold snap.
The bird song we enjoy around our little homestead is such a blessing.
Perfection would be a babbling brook running by to go along with the bird song.
One day……
Thought we would share some of our favourite chickadee moments.
Woke up this morning with the birds singing and the sun shining in the window. The day was beginning anew on a positive note. It was a perfect opportunity to head outside and clean up the pots of all the winter debris and uncover all the new flowers starting to bloom.
It just doesn’t get any better than this.
Flower pots make good homes for toys, notice Fievel and Maggie in the background. pretty much every pot in the yard has some toy or other in it.
Got an old computer tower hanging around, Here’s a great idea we came up with to recycle . |
